A proposal to take away open primaries in Alaska
VOTING YES ON 2 MEANS
Removing Alaska’s independent election system and allowing political elites to control who the candidates are.
Taking away the voter’s freedom to vote for whoever they choose, regardless of politcal party affiliation.
Reducing competition and allowing candidates to only compete for the votes of one political party, rather than all voters.
Making it harder for 3rd parties to be recognized in Alaska, including the Libertarian and Alaska Independence parties.
Allowing political parties to exclude the over 60% of Alaskans who chose not to register with a political party from being able to vote in every election.
VOTING NO ON 2 MEANS
Maintaining an independent election system that is not controlled by the political elites.
Protecting Alaskans’ freedom to vote for the best candidate in every race, regardless of party affiliation.
Requiring candidates from all political parties to compete for every vote.
Protecting the rights of 3rd Parties to compete in Alaska elections.
Ensuring that the thousands of veterans and service-members who chose not to register with a political party can still vote in every election.
